Team Meeting Discussion Item (Salena)
1. What are the top 5 concerns you have about the work at your site?
Something new for the upcoming team meeting...
I (salena) am facilitating the team meeting this week and we are going to use blog posts/comments as our discussion points.
Because I would like to get other people posting on this blog I am randomly selecting 3 people from our state team to each post a discussion item.
Everyone must post comments to 2 out of the 3 in order for us to have a meaningful discussion.
Post ideas...(selected people, please choose one of these topics or create your own)
1. What are the top 5 concerns you have about the work at your site?
2. What disability or housing related issues are currently hot issues in your community? (include web links)
3. Are you going on summer vacation? Details please!
4. What new partnerships have you made in the last few months, how are/will these partnerships move your project forward?
5. What are your top 5 tips for saving money with rising gas and food prices?
I have crumpled tiny pieces of paper with everyones initials (except spencers, he will be in training next week) and the winners are.....
Susan
Salena (yes, i put myself in the pot)
Virginia
Congratulations, you will be responsible for posting on this blog with either 1 of the above questions or a question of your own. You will still be responsible for responding to 2 out of the 3 posts, even if it is the question you selected. If you have any questions...shoot me an email. This is just to get you guys posting...you dont have to do anything special, just add a post with the title "Team meeting discussion item (your name)" and the question in the box. Please do this by Monday.
Do not respond to this post with answers to above questions. Wait until Salena, Susan and Virginia have posted the questions they will be asking. Only comment to this post with questions about the process.

Donation Request Letter
Hey everyone!
Salena has recently created a new best practices document that we can all use. It's based on a real donation request that she made to support the UCP Texas Access Housing project. This can be used to solicit individuals or organizations for specific donations. Enjoy! Simply cut, paste and save it as a word document.

YOUR ORGANIZATION program is working to develop an online searchable housing resource for people with disabilities. We are currently in the process of recruiting eight VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) team members to spend eight weeks this summer conducting surveys of local apartment communities for their accessibility features for people with disabilities. EDIT TO SPECIFIC DONATION REQUEST Team members will be using public transportation to travel to each different apartment community to orient them to the usefulness of public transportation in Austin – often the only mode of transportation available for people with disabilities.
Please accept this letter as our request to DONOR to provide EDIT TO SPECIFIC REQUEST the Capitol Metro passes that will enable these eight new team members to travel around Austin for the weeks of June 23rd to August 15th. Your generous contribution of $160.00 in bus passes and will go a long way in our continued development of the Access Housing program.
We plan to have our housing resource online sometime this fall and a contribution from DONOR will directly affect our ability to provide this resource for low income people with disabilities looking for housing in the Austin area.
United Cerebral Palsy of Texas, Inc. Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone ###-###-#### or by email, ENTER EMAIL

Housing Web Resources
Hey Guys,
I created a spreadsheet on google docs and shared with everyone (i think) called
helpful housing links.
You can make changes by using google docs and the changes will automatically show up on the document web link.
Please share any websites that you know of that have useful housing information. If there are other resources you would like us to share please let me know and I will try to create something.

Would you use this site?
What is the likelihood that you guys will use this site to communicate with each other in a non formal way. This would not be taking the place of the monthly VISTA meetings. This would be a separate space for questions or comments about what people are doing at their sites. I think what we would want to use this for would be up to us. Whether this is something that we use to keep us connected as far as getting help on our projects or if this is just a fun way for us to keep in touch and stay connected with each other since we dont see each other is for the group to decide.
Some ideas for how to use this blog:
1. post links to websites with good info
2. post links to interesting articles
3. sound off
4. silly fun things
